I'm on the Gold Coast & have a medibank card (I'm in top hospital & extras cover) & am having my bubs at a private hospital :) I can tell you my experience so far as I'm 25 weeks pregnant. Each Ob appointment is $80 & you get $30 ish back from medicare & you'll see the Ob every four weeks until 28weeks then every two weeks. Not covered by medibank. The two important scans at 12weeks & 19weeks were around the $300 mark each & get minimal back from medicare. Not covered by medibank. My Ob charged $1850 at the 24 week appointment for his services of which medicare will contribute a whopping $100 & medibank will contribute $0.00. Antenatal classes at private hospitals charge $240+ & you'll get $0 back. I'd recommend finding a private midwife as you'll pay about the same & get more one on one attention. I called my private hospital & asked if they could give me the name of someone & turned out the nurse who teaches the antenatal class at the hospital also does private classes which was great as she'll know the hospital procedures etc. As far as the in hospital goes, I'm hoping that's when medibank will finally come to the table as that's what they're really there for. If you reach your safety net (as at 2009 = $1111) out of pocket expenses in a calendar year via medicare by the time your 24week bill is due at your Ob you'll get 80% back. Unfortunately for me I did reach my safety net but then 1st Jan rolled around & wiped it clear just in time for my $1850 bill grrr :( As for the amount of money I've spent on actual baby purchases that's a personal choice you could spend a little or a lot & that's up to your individual budget. I hope this helps! Edit - Oh just remembered the initial Ob appointment was $220. Also, I dare say a lot of these figures I've mentioned will be more in Sydney, I know for a fact they're more expensive just in Brisbane a friend of mine's initial consult at her Ob was $375 & medicare only gives back $60. Edit #2 - Hopefully you won't need it but I've been on Zofran since week 6 (for severe morning sickness) & am still taking it. The cost is $60 per box & you only get four tablets per box, this isn't covered by PBS & medicare won't help you, this is where Medibank will if you have pharmaceutical cover. Four tablets in my bad weeks lasts only 2 days!!! So I have paid $30 per day in most weeks just to get through the day!!! Medibank gives me back on each $60 packet, $30. Remember too that the pharmaceutical isn't much per year, in this case I'm lucky I got a top up on Jan 1st!

If you are in India . . . You should know abortion is legal in India, you guys could go to a clinic. If you are just gonna buy the pills though . . . A detailed how-to information on medical abortion - the safest and most effective method of self-induced abortion is available at --- There are several websites that offer the medical abortion pharmaceuticals online for sale, however many of them are suspect or proven to take your money, but not send the pills or send pills that do not contain the medical abortion medicines mifepristone and misoprostol. The best and safest way a woman can do an abortion herself until the 9th week of pregnancy is with the use of two medicines called Mifepristone (also known as the abortion pill, RU 486, Mifegyn, Mifeprex), and Misoprostol (also known as Cytotec, Arthrotec, Oxaprost , Cyprostol, Mibetec, Prostokos or Misotrol) Women on Waves advice regarding how to obtain misoprostol: "The brand names for Misoprostol are Cytotec and Arthrotec and Oxaprost or Cyprostol , Prostokos or Misotrol. Sometimes it is sold over the counter without a prescription. Sometimes a prescription is asked. It is less likely that one would need a prescription for Arthrotec. Misoprostol is used prevents gastric ulcers '''Cytotec and Cyprostol and Mibetec or Misotrol', Prostokos'' are brand names for Misoprostol. Arthrotec and Oxaprost contains Misoprostol and a painkiller called Diclofenac, It is used for pain in the joints, or arthritis. Arthrotec is generally more expensive than Cytotec. - Cytotec (200g Misoprostol) - Cyprostol - Misotrol - Mibetec - Gymiso (200g Misoprostol) - Prostokos (25g Misoprostol) - Vagiprost (25g Misoprostol) - Arthrotec 50 or 75 (200g Misoprostol) - Oxaprost 50 or 75 (200g Misoprostol) To obtain one these medicines, one could for example say that your grandmother has rheumatoid arthritis so severely she can not go to the pharmacy herself, and that you do not have money to pay for a doctor to get the prescriptions for the tablets. If there are problems to get the medicines in one pharmacy, try another pharmacy, or a male friend or partner might have fewer problems obtaining them. Or, perhaps you can find a doctor willing to prescribe them. Usually one can expect more luck at the smaller pharmacies that do not belong to a chain. Sometimes Cytotec can also be bought on the black market (places where you can also buy Marijuana). However try to make sure that is really is Misoprostol and not fake or some other medicine! The woman should buy at least 12 pills of 200 mcg Misoprostol. One pill of Cytotec or Arthrotec should contain 200 micrograms of Misoprostol. Look for the dosage of Misoprostol on the package, usually the tablets contain 200 mcg but other dosages do excist. If the pills do not contain 200 micrograms of Misoprostol, recalculate the number of pills so that the same total amount of Misoprostol is used. " If you are in the US or the UK, email me and I can point you in the right direction for an aboriton. Good luck ~Pro-Choice Momma; Have had an abortion and I have a 12 month old daughter . I believe in protecting my daughter's choice. Abortion: There is a Consensus ---

I have three children and am currently pregnant. I have vomited from conception to delivery for all four pregnancies. There are a couple different medications out there. First off, prenatal vitamins usually have a lot of iron which can increase nausea and vomitting so maybe she could try premisis. It is a prenatal vitamin that has lower iron levels but still all the other nutrients. Also there is phenegren, which comes in a pill and a suppository. Which I know suppositories don't sound fun but if she is vomitting all the time she may not be able to keep a pill down. My saving grace has been a med called Zofran ODT. It is a dissolvable tablet so it hits her blood stream without going through her stomach. It is used for chemo patients to help stop their nauseau. These are both prescriptioan medications but if she is losing weight and probly getting dehydrated you shouldn't have a problem finding a doc to prescribe them. I have had two different ob docs and both felt comfortable with me taking them due to my severe morning sickness. Good luck and I hope she feels better.

Emma . answer on 19 Aug '12 at 18:42

you said you had periods 2 days later??...then no pregnancy otherwise quite possible if conception occurs before you took the tablets then it cant prevent pregnancy....so wait till your next date and then take a test...

Emma . answer on 19 Aug '12 at 19:47

no implantation bleeding occurs around 6-12 days after conception...so if you had concieved bfr you took tablets then you might be pregnant...if the bleed is scanty brownish discharge thn imp bleed...or to make sure ..stop your pills to get periods...
