So, I have a question. I am almost 12 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and everyone who knows me says I am showing. I personally am not too sure. See, I've always had a tiny pudge, never completely flat stomach. But now the pudge is popping out more and getting bigger. But when I go to the doctor for ultrasounds and doppler audio the baby is located down further than my pudge, like right above my bladder. So this belly isn't baby. Am I just getting fat or what's going on? My friend who's had a baby says that I'm not getting fat, my uterus is just getting bigger and my body is making more room for what will soon be baby. So is this technically "showing" or what? I'm showing uterus, not baby. LoL. Any other opinions about my situation?? Thanks!

I'm 5'3" and 100 lbs... Though I barely gained any weight during the first trimester, I did get thicker around the middle after the first month but it didn't look like I was pregnant. I had a noticeable bump at 4 months and it wasn't obvious I was pregnant until 5 months. At 9 months, my doctors were concerned that the baby might be small and did an ultrasound. They found the baby to be quite large and healthy, and shook their heads at how well my body "hid" the pregnancy. They explained that strong muscle tone helps keep your tummy held tight even while pregnant. This is probably why first pregnancies show to a lesser degree than second pregnancies. After you've given birth once, your abdominal muscles have been stretched and divided. Although my stomach is now flat, I haven't done the abdominal exercises to bring my muscles back to their pre-pregnancy state, so I'm sure a baby would fall forward and show more easily the next time.... thanks for the reminder... I think I'll get right on those abdominal exercises :o)

well I am 17 weeks and I have only felt my baby move once or twice so far, both times I had just woke up and was laying still in bed and felt like what seemed to be a butterfly or a fish swimming in my stomach (sounds crazy, but that is what it felt like). When I went for my ultrasound last week the baby was all over the place, basically bouncing off of my uterus! He was tossing and turning and flipping and kicking, I would really like to know how I don't feel that! The doctor told me today that I should feel the baby more within the next week or so! I can't wait...
