What is everyone doing to prepare there body for pregnancy?

My husband and I want to start "trying" in February. What should I be doing to prepare my body mentally and physically for pregnancy?

Start taking prenatal vitamins now. Folic acid from them is essential to early brain stem development. There was a recent study out that suggests that a lack of folic acid during pregnancy can be a cause of autism. Also, I have a regular yoga practice which I've been continuing since becoming pregnant. My body is really sore in the mornings and having a regular routine to stretch everything out has been amazing! Classes are good but I found www.myyogaonline.com is an incredible resource and only $10 for unlimited views of videos to watch. Regardless of your level or never have tried it. Also, both partners not drinking or smoking is helpful when trying. Best of luck to you both! Its an amazing time :}

Congrats and GREAT for you to start preparing your body AHEAD of time!! :) Start making sure you are getting plenty from all food groups, take a prenatal with plenty of folic acid! After you get pregnant spend a little more and add a DHA supplement. If you don't like/ can't drink milk, be sure to add a calcium supplement as well, drink PLENTY of water! TRY to cut out or cut back all caffeine and sodas. Start tracking your cycles. If you aren't wanting to take your temp (I don't, personally, there is no way I could take it at the same time every day before I wake up!), a good site to use is www.mymonthlycycles.com you can input your cycles and it will tell you when you are at your most fertile. If you don't have a regular cycle, then I would recommend using an OPK starting your first month, they cost a bit, but take the guess work out of knowing when you ovulate. If you feel comfortable doing so, you can monitor your cervix for ovulation. You can look that up on google, there are plenty of great sites that will instruct you on how to safely do so. That's the physical stuff, as far as mentally, just relax and have fun! Know that it probably will not happen on the first try! Just enjoy this time with your hubby! Good luck to you!
